The Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) has officially commenced the sale of application forms for admission into its 2026/2027 Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) Foundation School (JFS) Programme.

The one-year foundation programme is designed to prepare qualified candidates for Direct Entry admission into 200 Level at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri and other participating universities across Nigeria and abroad.

Interested candidates who meet the admission requirements are invited to apply before the commencement of lectures scheduled for September 21, 2026.

About the FUTO JUPEB Programme

The FUTO JUPEB Foundation School Programme offers candidates an alternative route to university admission without having to write another Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Upon successful completion of the programme and meeting the required JUPEB points, candidates become eligible for Direct Entry admission into 200 Level in FUTO and other universities that recognize the JUPEB qualification.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must possess at least five (5) O'Level credit passes obtained in WAEC, NECO or NABTEB in not more than two sittings.

The required subjects include:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology

The specific subject requirements depend on the candidate's intended course of study.

Medicine and Surgery Applicants

Candidates seeking admission into Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) must possess five O'Level credits in:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

These credits must be obtained in one sitting.

Candidates awaiting the release of their O'Level results are also eligible to apply.

Approved JUPEB Subject Combinations

FUTO has approved the following subject combinations for the programme:

  • Biology, Chemistry and Physics (BCP) for:
    • School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT)
    • School of Biological Sciences (SOBS)
    • School of Health Technology
    • College of Medicine (COM)
  • Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics (CMP) for:
    • School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET)
    • School of Electrical Systems Engineering Technology (SESET)
    • School of Environmental Sciences (SOES)
    • School of Information and Communication Technology (SICT)
    • School of Logistics and Innovation Technology (SLIT)
    • School of Physical Sciences (SOPS)

Candidates are advised to choose the subject combination that aligns with their intended degree programme.
