AAU Notice on Prohibition of Unwholesome Practices During Matriculation

The Management of Ambrose Alli University (AAU) wishes to inform all students and members of the University community that certain unwholesome practices have been reported during past matriculation ceremonies. These include, but are not limited to, splashing of water, flogging with leaves cut from trees, line-up parades, and other forms of harassment within and outside the University environment.

Such activities are strictly prohibited and contravene the University’s code of conduct, which emphasizes respect, dignity, and discipline among students. The University is committed to ensuring that all matriculation activities are conducted in a safe, orderly, and respectful manner.

Directive to Students

All new students are hereby advised not to participate in or condone any of these unwholesome practices. Students are encouraged to:

• Refuse to comply with any act that is contrary to the University’s regulations.
• Avoid being intimidated or coerced by peers or senior students.
• Maintain a high standard of decorum during the matriculation ceremony.

Failure to adhere to these directives will attract disciplinary actions in line with the University’s Students’ Handbook and disciplinary code.

University Measures

The Management has put in place adequate monitoring and security measures to ensure that the matriculation ceremony proceeds peacefully and without incident. Officials will be present throughout the event to oversee compliance and address any reported misconduct promptly.
