Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene, has reaffirmed its ban on sign-out fanfare by graduating students, warning that students who violate the directive will face severe disciplinary action.

In a circular dated October 5, 2026, and signed by the Acting Registrar, Godswill E. Udofah, MNIM, the institution reminded all students that the ban on graduating students’ sign-out fanfare remains in force.

According to the Polytechnic, Management initially imposed the ban through a circular dated September 15, 2025, following disruptions to peace on campus and complaints from various organisations over the alleged abuse of their professional outfits during such activities.

Management expressed concern that some unacceptable activities associated with sign-out fanfare have continued recently despite the existing prohibition.

The Polytechnic has therefore directed all graduating students to strictly comply with the directive, stressing that sign-out fanfare contravenes the institution's rules and regulations.

PENALTIES FOR VIOLATORS

The institution warned that any student found contravening the directive will:

  • Be handed over to the relevant security agency for prosecution.
  • Have his or her studentship withdrawn.

Management described the circular as a final warning and urged all students to take the directive seriously and comply strictly.

The Polytechnic also requested that the circular be given the widest possible publicity among students to ensure that all graduating students are aware of the directive.

Graduating students are therefore advised to avoid any form of sign-out fanfare or activity that violates the institution’s regulations.
