Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil: Postponement and Merging of Mid-Semester Break
The Senate of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, has officially announced a significant adjustment to the 2025/2026 academic calendar. According to a formal memorandum issued by the Senate Secretariat on 14 February 2026, the previously scheduled First Semester Mid-Semester break has been postponed and will now be consolidated with the upcoming Sallah festivities. This administrative decision, approved by the Chairman of the Senate and signed by the Academic Secretary, Shehu Saleh, affects all academic activities across the institution's various faculties and departments.
The rescheduling shifts the hiatus from the middle of February to the middle of March, creating a more extended period for student and staff rest in alignment with the religious calendar. The break, which was originally scheduled to hold from Monday, 16 February to Sunday, 22 February 2026, has been moved to a new combined window starting from 16 March and ending on 24 March 2026. This strategic shift ensures that the university can maximize instructional time before the holy month and the subsequent festive period.
The University Management highlighted two primary academic and social factors that necessitated this change. First, the Senate noted that there were initial delays in the commencement of lectures for specific courses at the start of the 2025/2026 session. Consequently, an immediate break in February would have disrupted the learning momentum and prevented the completion of the required syllabus within the stipulated timeframe. Second, with the fasting period of the month of Ramadan fast approaching, the University opted to merge the mid-semester break with the Sallah holiday to allow students and staff ample time for religious observance and travel without multiple, fragmented disruptions to the academic flow.
All members of the University community are required to adhere to specific administrative directives following this announcement. Lectures and laboratory practicals will continue as scheduled through February and the first half of March, and students are strongly advised against self-declared holidays during the original February dates. Departmental heads are expected to re-adjust any Continuous Assessment schedules or quizzes that were originally planned around the new March window. Furthermore, all faculties, departments, and administrative units are directed to take formal note of this arrangement to ensure unified operations across the Wudil campus.
The University Management remains committed to maintaining a stable academic calendar while remaining sensitive to the cultural and religious needs of its community. By merging these breaks, the institution aims to provide a more meaningful period of rest while ensuring that academic standards are not compromised by the late start of certain modules. All concerned parties are encouraged to plan their travel and study schedules in accordance with these newly approved dates.
