COUNCIL OF LEGAL EDUCATION RELEASES UPDATED LIST OF ACCREDITED UNIVERSITIES FOR LL.B PROGRAMME IN NIGERIA

The Council of Legal Education (CLE) has officially issued a public notice to inform prospective students, parents, guardians, and all stakeholders that only universities duly accredited by the Council are authorized to admit students into the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree programme in Nigeria.

This announcement serves as a regulatory reminder aimed at maintaining standards in legal education and ensuring that all law graduates meet the required academic and professional benchmarks necessary for entry into the Nigerian legal profession.

ACCREDITATION REQUIREMENT FOR LAW PROGRAMMES

The Council emphasized that any university offering admission into the LL.B programme must first obtain proper accreditation and approval from the Council of Legal Education.

According to the Council, institutions that admit students into Law programmes without official approval are acting in violation of established regulations governing legal education in Nigeria. Such actions will attract appropriate sanctions in line with existing policies and statutory provisions.

WARNING TO STUDENTS AND PARENTS

The Council further warned that students who enroll in unaccredited Law programmes will not be eligible for admission into the Nigerian Law School, which is a mandatory step for becoming a qualified legal practitioner in the country.

This makes it extremely important for candidates and guardians to verify the accreditation status of any institution before accepting admission offers into Law programmes.
