FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, NASARAWA ANNOUNCES TOTAL BAN ON SIGNING-OUT GRADUATION CELEBRATIONS

The management of The Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, has issued a formal notice to all students, reiterating a total ban on all "sign-out" graduation celebrations. In a circular dated July 20, 2026, signed by Barka Yakubu, the Deputy Registrar (Students Affairs), the institution warned that the ban remains strictly enforced and that severe disciplinary actions await any student who violates these directives.

Key Directives and Consequences

To ensure compliance, the Polytechnic management has outlined the following mandates and penalties:

Mandatory Undertaking: All graduating students are required to sign an undertaking at their respective Head of Department’s (HOD) office, acknowledging the ban and the consequences of violation, which include the cancellation of final examinations.

Prohibition of Celebrations: Any activities associated with "signing out"—regardless of the terminology used—or the spraying of Naira notes or coins within or outside the campus are strictly prohibited. Offenders will be required to repeat the session or face expulsion.

Intoxicants and Illicit Substances: The possession, consumption, or trading of alcoholic drinks, illicit drugs, or other intoxicants within the Polytechnic premises will result in immediate expulsion.

Weapon Control: Any student found in possession of or trading firearms or other dangerous weapons within or outside the school premises will be expelled.

Conduct and Reputation: Any immoral, indecent, or disrespectful conduct that brings the Polytechnic into disrepute will attract a minimum punishment of rustication for one session or outright expulsion.

Examination Integrity: Departments and invigilators have been instructed to query any students who enter examination halls wearing "sign-out" regalia.

Prohibition of Occultism: The practice of sorcery, magic, juju, or any related activities under the guise of "signing out" is strictly banned and will result in expulsion.

The institution has emphasized that these measures are for strict compliance. Copies of this directive have been forwarded to the Rector, all Deputy Rectors, Deans, HODs, the Chief Security Officer, and the President of the Students Union Government to ensure total enforcement across the institution.
