FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC OKO SUSPENDS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES ACROSS ALL CAMPUSES
The Management of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, has announced the immediate suspension of all activities and programmes of the institution’s Alumni Association across all campuses.
The decision follows an ongoing leadership dispute between rival factions of the association, which has reportedly heightened tensions and raised concerns about campus security and the maintenance of academic peace.
Reasons for the Suspension
According to the information released, Management took the precautionary measure following concerns over unauthorised attempts by a faction to access sensitive institutional records and organise events on campus without official approval.
The suspension is intended to prevent further escalation of the dispute and maintain order within the institution.
Activities Affected by the Suspension
Under the directive, all Alumni Association activities are suspended until further notice. The restrictions include:
- Holding meetings and organising events without Management’s authorisation.
- Using the institution’s facilities without official approval.
- Conducting association programmes across any of the institution’s campuses without permission.
Staff, students and security personnel have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the suspension.
Suspension Remains in Force Until Further Notice
The Management stated that the suspension will remain effective until it is officially lifted.
The measure is aimed at restoring administrative order, protecting the institution’s reputation and safeguarding the welfare of students and staff while efforts continue towards resolving the leadership dispute.
Members of the Alumni Association and other stakeholders are expected to comply with the directive pending further communication from the institution.
