FEDERAL UNIVERSITY GASHUA (FUGA) APPROVES ONE-YEAR TENURE EXTENSION FOR THREE PRINCIPAL OFFICERS

The Governing Council of the Federal University Gashua (FUGA), Yobe State, has approved a one-year extension of the tenure of three principal officers of the University.

The decision was reached at the Council's 32nd Regular Meeting, held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

The extension affects the University's Registrar, Bursar and University Librarian, whose current tenures have been extended for an additional one year in accordance with the provisions of the Federal University Gashua Act.

THREE FUGA PRINCIPAL OFFICERS AFFECTED

The principal officers whose tenures have been extended are:

  • Dr Abubakar Manmuda — Registrar
  • Mallam Muhammad Ahmad Ali — Bursar
  • Dr Adam Gambo Saleh — University Librarian

The decision allows the three officers to continue in their respective positions for another year.

REASON FOR THE ONE-YEAR EXTENSION

According to the University, the extension is in line with Section 5(4) of the Federal University Gashua Act.

The provision empowers the Governing Council, upon being satisfied with the performance of a Registrar, Bursar or Librarian, to extend the officer's tenure for a further period of one year only.

The Council's approval therefore provides for the continuation of the three principal officers in their respective roles for the additional one-year period.

GOVERNING COUNCIL CONGRATULATES OFFICERS

The Chairman of the Governing Council, Barrister Ibrahim Usman, congratulated the three principal officers on the approval of the tenure extension.

He also commended them for their contributions to the growth and development of Federal University Gashua.

The Council's decision reflects its assessment of the officers' performance and their continued roles in the administration of the University.

VICE-CHANCELLOR CONGRATULATES PRINCIPAL OFFICERS

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Gashua, Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam, also congratulated the affected officers on the development.

The Vice-Chancellor wished them continued success as they continue to discharge their responsibilities to the University.

According to Professor Geidam, the decision reflects the Governing Council's commitment to strengthening the University's administrative and academic structures, promoting career progression and enhancing institutional efficiency.

FUGA MANAGEMENT TO CONTINUE WITH INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The continuation of the three principal officers is expected to support the ongoing administration and development of the Federal University Gashua.

As Registrar, Bursar and University Librarian, the officers play key roles in the University's administrative, financial, academic and library operations.

Their continued service for the additional one-year period will enable the University to maintain leadership continuity in these key offices.
