The Gombe State Scholarship Board has issued a disclaimer and counter-circular to Gombe State indigenes studying in institutions of higher learning across Nigeria, warning them against acting on a fake circular circulating on social media concerning the 2025/2026 scholarship registration exercise.

In its notice, the Board clarified that the circular did not originate from the Board and urged students and members of the general public to disregard it.

GOMBE STATE SCHOLARSHIP REGISTRATION: BOARD CLARIFIES

The Board explained that students who registered during the 2025 scholarship registration exercise should not register again, as their existing registration remains valid throughout their years of study.

The clarification is intended to prevent unnecessary duplicate applications and ensure that students follow the Board's approved registration process.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO REGISTER FOR THE 2025/2026 EXERCISE?

According to the Board, the current registration exercise is intended for the following categories of students:

  1. Students who did not register in 2025: Those who missed the previous registration exercise but are still in school during the 2025/2026 academic session.
    1. Newly admitted students: Students who gained admission into institutions of higher learning for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Students who already registered during the 2025 exercise are advised not to submit another registration.

SCHOLARSHIP BOARD WARNS AGAINST MULTIPLE REGISTRATION

The Gombe State Scholarship Board further announced that it would conduct a verification exercise in due course.

According to the notice, any student found to have completed multiple registrations may be disqualified from the scholarship exercise.

Students are therefore advised to provide accurate information and comply with the Board's registration guidelines to avoid possible disqualification.

ADVICE TO GOMBE STATE STUDENTS

Gombe State indigenes studying in universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and other recognised institutions are encouraged to take note of the clarification.

Students should avoid relying on unverified circulars shared on social media and should seek confirmation from the Gombe State Scholarship Board before acting on any scholarship announcement.

Those who have already registered should retain their registration details and wait for further official information regarding the verification exercise.

OFFICIAL NOTICE

The disclaimer was signed by Shuaibu Gidado, on behalf of the Director/Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Scholarship Board.

The Board urged all affected students and members of the public to take note of the announcement and follow the official instructions.

CONCLUSION

Students who registered in 2025 should not register again, while eligible students who missed the previous exercise and new intakes for the 2025/2026 academic session should follow the Board's official registration instructions.
