Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered:
Degree Requirement:
Must hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree (received within two years of the start date – August 1, 2026).
Advanced doctoral candidates in the social sciences may also apply, provided they are close to completing their dissertation.
Completion Deadline:
Doctoral candidates must submit official proof of degree completion from their university registrar’s office by June 30, 2026 for the August 1 start date.
Exclusions:
Individuals who have already held or completed a Harvard postdoctoral fellowship are not eligible.

💰 Fellowship Value & Duration

Stipend: $80,000 per year.

Duration: Two years, completed within a three-year period.

Structure:

Year 1 must begin no later than the fall following the award.

Scholars may apply for one leave (up to 12 months) between Year 1 and Year 2 if taking a tenure-track teaching role.

No other funding sources, awards, or professional obligations are allowed during the fellowship.
