The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will officially usher in a new phase of leadership as its outgoing Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, hands over the affairs of the examination body to his successor, Professor Segun Aina.
According to the Board, the official handover ceremony is scheduled to hold on Friday, 31st July, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., and will be broadcast live on JAMB's official social media platforms for members of the public to follow.
In a notice released on Wednesday, JAMB described the event as a significant milestone in the history of the Board and invited stakeholders, candidates, educational institutions, and the general public to witness the transition.

End of Oloyede's Tenure
The ceremony officially marks the conclusion of Professor Ishaq Oloyede's tenure as Registrar of JAMB, which expires on 31st July, 2026.
During his years in office, Oloyede was widely credited with introducing several reforms aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the overall admission process in Nigeria.
His administration also strengthened the use of technology in examination management, improved the integrity of admissions through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), and implemented measures to curb examination malpractice.
Professor Segun Aina Takes Over
Professor Segun Aina was recently appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the new Registrar of JAMB.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirming that Aina would succeed Professor Oloyede upon the expiration of his tenure.

Professor Segun Aina is a renowned Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, with extensive experience in digital infrastructure, examination technology, and institutional reforms.
His academic qualifications include:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, United Kingdom.
- Master's degree in Internet Computing and Network Security.
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University, United Kingdom.
- Senior Management Programme certification from Lagos Business School.
Professional Experience
According to the Presidency, Professor Aina possesses over 15 years of experience in advising Federal and State Governments on:
- Digital transformation
- Institutional reforms
- Information technology systems
- Digital infrastructure development
- Systems design and implementation
He has also worked closely with major examination bodies, including:
- National Examinations Council (NECO)
- National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB)
where he served as a consultant on ICT systems, examination security, and examination integrity.
Youngest Registrar in JAMB's History
The Presidency noted that Professor Segun Aina is regarded as one of Nigeria's youngest Professors of Computer Engineering and is expected to become the youngest Registrar in the history of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that the incoming Registrar would build on the reforms initiated under Professor Oloyede's administration while introducing innovations that would further strengthen Nigeria's tertiary admission system.
