LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY (LASU) ANNOUNCES 124TH INAUGURAL LECTURE

The Lagos State University (LASU) is set to host its 124th Inaugural Lecture, centered on the critical topic of newborn survival in Nigeria.

The lecture, titled "Help! Baby Is Not Breathing!: Answering the Call for Survival of the Nigerian Newborn," will be delivered by Professor Elizabeth Aruma Disu, a Professor of Paediatrics (Neonatology) from the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Lagos State University College of Medicine.

This event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7th, 2026, at 02:00 p.m. It will take place at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, LASU Main Campus in Ojo, Lagos.

The 124th Inaugural Lecture holds significant importance as it addresses a crucial health issue. According to the United Nations Inter-agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation, Nigeria ranks among the countries with the highest neonatal mortality rates globally.

The lecture is expected to provide valuable insights and call for action to improve newborn survival outcomes in the country.

Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, will chair the event. All guests are expected to be seated by 1:30 p.m.
