The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has officially commenced the sale of application forms for admission into its Pre-Degree Studies (PDS) Programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The programme is designed for candidates who need to strengthen their O'Level qualifications and prepare adequately for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) before gaining admission into 100 Level degree programmes at LASU.
The one-year intensive programme will commence in October 2026 and end in September 2027. All admitted students will study at the LASU Epe Campus and are required to reside in the university hostels throughout the programme.
About the LASU Pre-Degree Programme
The LASU Pre-Degree Studies (PDS) Programme is an academic foundation programme specially created to help students:
- Improve deficient O'Level results.
- Prepare effectively for the UTME examination.
- Increase their chances of securing admission into Lagos State University.
Unlike candidates applying through the regular UTME admission process, successful PDS students who meet all admission requirements can be considered under the university's Pre-Degree admission quota, giving them a better opportunity of gaining admission.
Why Choose LASU Pre-Degree Studies?
The programme offers several advantages, including:
- Intensive classroom teaching.
- Regular CBT practice for JAMB preparation.
- Opportunity to rewrite WAEC or NECO to correct deficient O'Level subjects.
- Better admission prospects through the LASU Pre-Degree admission quota.
- Residential learning environment that promotes academic excellence.
Excellent Performance Record
LASU disclosed that despite the generally low performance recorded in the 2026 UTME, students from the Pre-Degree Programme performed exceptionally well.
According to the university:
- About 90% of PDS students scored 200 and above in the 2026 UTME.
