NASARAWA STATE UNIVERSITY, KEFFI (NSUK) MANAGEMENT ISSUES UPDATE ON THE ONGOING ASUU INDUSTRIAL ACTION
Share

The Management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, acknowledges your concerns regarding the ongoing industrial action by ASUU-NSUK.

We sincerely appreciate the patience, maturity and calmness you have demonstrated thus far, and we appeal to you to continue to maintain them as we work assiduously to bring academic activities to a resumption at the earliest possible time.

UPDATE ON ENGAGEMENTS

You may recall that the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and Visitor to the University recently held a joint meeting with the University-based unions - ASUU, SSANU, NAAT and NASU - and University Management.

At the meeting, the State Government presented proposals to the unions. At its Congress meeting held last Wednesday, ASUU-NSUK not only accepted the offer made by the State Government but also expressed appreciation for the intervention and commitment of the Visitor.

Furthermore, the ASUU-NSUK Executive met with University Management on Monday, 31st August, 2026. The meeting provided a constructive platform for both parties to discuss matters of mutual interest, particularly the implementation of the resolutions of Congress.

Given these positive developments, Management is highly optimistic that the strike will be called off shortly.

APPEAL FOR CALM

Management remains deeply concerned about any development that may further disrupt the University’s academic calendar. We are sparing no effort to ensure a speedy and amicable resolution of the issues.

It has, however, come to our attention that there are plans by some students to stage a protest on campus. While Management recognises your right to peaceful assembly, we wish to remind you that any such action within the University must be conducted in accordance with established procedures. These include:

  1. Prior written notice to the University authorities stating the reason for the protest;
  2. Identification of the protest leaders who will interface with Management; and
  3. Disclosure of the proposed date, time and venue of the protest.

Please note that any protest staged without fulfilling the above conditions will be deemed unlawful. In such circumstances, the relevant law enforcement agencies may be invited to maintain law and order, and those involved may be liable to disciplinary action, including appearance before the Students’ Disciplinary Committee with recommendations to Senate that could include dismissal from the University.

As your parents and guardians in loco parentis, we strongly advise against any action that could jeopardise your academic progress and wellbeing.

Students with information on any planned action are encouraged to report discreetly to the Dean, Student Affairs. Your confidentiality will be fully protected.

CONCLUSION

We are confident that we are approaching the end of this industrial action. Management, led by the Vice-Chancellor, our Sweet Mother, remains committed to your welfare and to the restoration of normal academic activities.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
