OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY (OAU) ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR 65TH ANNIVERSARY

The Management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has officially announced the commencement of activities marking the institution's historic 65th Anniversary Celebration.

In an official invitation released by the Anniversary Celebration Committee—chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor G. A. Aderounmu—the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, cordially invites all Provosts, Deans, Directors, staff, students, and the general public to actively participate in this milestone event.

The week-long celebration is specially designed to commemorate the remarkable journey, outstanding achievements, and enduring legacy of the University as a foremost institution of higher learning in Nigeria and beyond.

The festivities will officially kick off with a Press Conference addressed by the Vice-Chancellor on Monday, 1st June, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. inside Floor O, Room 5.

Important Notice to All Staff and Students

Special Dress Code for Cultural Day (Day 4): Management has explicitly noted that all staff and students are required to wear their indigenous (native) attires on Thursday, June 4, to beautifully showcase and celebrate our rich African diversities.

The University community's presence and collective support will greatly contribute to the success of this historic milestone in the life of Great Ife.
