SCHOOL OF HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT (SHIM), ATBUTH, BAUCHI: 2026/2027 ADMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Management of the School of Health Information Management (SHIM), Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, officially invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its full-time National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes for the 2026/2027 Academic Session.

I. AVAILABLE COURSES OF STUDY

Applications are open for professional training in:

• National Diploma (ND) in Health Information Management.
• Higher National Diploma (HND) in Health Information Management.

II. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

For National Diploma (ND) Candidates:

• O’Level Results: Minimum of five (5) credits in WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB. Subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics (obtained at not more than two sittings).
  * Note: NABTEB results can only be combined with another NABTEB result.
• UTME: Candidates must have sat for the 2026 JAMB UTME and met the institutional cutoff point.
• JAMB Subject Combination: English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

For Higher National Diploma (HND) Candidates:

• Academic Qualification: Evidence of a completed ND in Health Information Management or Health Records Technician certificate with a minimum of Lower Credit.
• O’Level Results: Same core science requirements as the ND level.
• Professional License: Must possess a current practicing license.
• Work Experience: Evidence of the one-year mandatory Industrial Training (IT) from an accredited health institution.
• JAMB Documentation: Evidence of a JAMB Admission letter issued during the ND admission.
• Special Consideration: Candidates with a Pass (CGPA 2.00–2.49) at the ND level may be considered if they possess two or more years of post-ND cognate experience.

III. METHOD OF APPLICATION

Prospective students are required to obtain Online Screening Pins from the School Admission Office. Payments are to be made via Remita as follows:

• National Diploma (ND): Five Thousand Naira (₦5,000.00)
• Higher National Diploma (HND): Ten Thousand Naira (₦10,000.00)

IV. PROGRAMME DURATION & SCREENING

• Duration: Both ND and HND programmes span two (2) academic sessions (four semesters). This includes participation in the Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).
• Selection Process: Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a screening test and interview. Dates for these exercises will be communicated in due course.
