UNICROSS Announces New Date for 24th Matriculation Ceremony
The management of University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has informed staff, students, and the general public that the 24th Matriculation Ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session, which was previously postponed indefinitely, has now been rescheduled.
The earlier postponement was due to a strike action embarked upon by the Joint Action Congress (JAC) of the three non-teaching labour unions within the university. Following developments surrounding the industrial action, the university management has now fixed new dates for the matriculation exercise across its campuses.
New Matriculation Schedule
According to the announcement, the matriculation ceremony will take place on different dates across the university campuses:
- Calabar Campus: Monday, March 16, 2026
- Ogoja and Okuku Campuses: Tuesday, March 17, 2026
The event will formally induct newly admitted students into the academic community of University of Cross River State.
Importance of the Matriculation Ceremony
Matriculation is one of the most important academic traditions in universities. It marks the official admission of newly admitted students into the institution and confirms their status as bona fide members of the university community.
During the ceremony, students take the matriculation oath, pledging to abide by the rules and regulations governing the university and to maintain discipline and integrity throughout their academic programmes.
The ceremony also provides an opportunity for the university management, academic staff, parents, and other stakeholders to formally welcome the new students.
Guidance for Students and Staff
The university management advised all concerned staff, students, and stakeholders to take note of the new schedule and prepare accordingly.
Matriculating students are expected to follow all guidelines provided by the university and ensure that they participate fully in the ceremony as part of their academic requirements.
Students are also encouraged to remain attentive to further information or instructions that may be released by the university regarding preparations for the event.
Best Wishes to Matriculating Students
The management of University of Cross River State extended its goodwill to all newly admitted students and wished them a successful and memorable matriculation ceremony in advance.
The institution also reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality education and supporting the academic development of its students as they begin their journey within the university.
