UNIZIK ANNOUNCES PROGRAMME OF EVENTS FOR COMBINED 20TH AND 21ST CONVOCATION CEREMONIES
Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK), Anambra State, has announced the schedule of activities for its combined 20th and 21st Convocation Ceremonies.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie, made the announcement on behalf of the University Governing Council, Senate, staff and students.
The six-day celebration will run from Sunday, November 15, to Friday, November 20, 2026, at the university’s permanent site in Awka. Activities will include a convocation lecture, prize-giving ceremony, research fair, project commissioning, undergraduate and postgraduate convocations, and the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees.
UNIZIK 2026 Convocation: Full Programme of Events
Day 1: Sunday, November 15, 2026
- 9:00 a.m.: Convocation Mass at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Chaplaincy, UNIZIK Permanent Site.
- 4:00 p.m.: Novelty Football Match between Alumni and UNIZIK Staff at Garba Square, Coca-Cola Centre Pitch.
Day 2: Monday, November 16, 2026
- 11:00 a.m.: Convocation, Zik’s Annual Lecture and Command Performance at the ASUU Secretariat.
- Convocation Lecturer: Her Excellency Ambassador Arikana Chihombori Quao, former African Union Permanent Representative to the United States (2016–2019).
Day 3: Tuesday, November 17, 2026
- 10:00 a.m.: Interaction with Parents and Prize-Giving Ceremony at the ASUU-NAU Secretariat.
- 2:00 p.m.: UNIZIK Research and Products Fair at Garba Square.
Day 4: Wednesday, November 18, 2026
- 10:00 a.m.: Commissioning of projects at designated university sites, followed by the inauguration of patrons and patronesses of the UNIZIK Advancement Board.
- 2:00 p.m.: Alumni and Friends of the University Luncheon, alongside “An Evening with Graduands,” at the ASUU Secretariat.
Day 5: Thursday, November 19, 2026
- 11:00 a.m.: Undergraduate Convocation at the UNIZIK Stadium.
- 4:00 p.m.: Postgraduate Dinner at the ASUU Secretariat.
Day 6: Friday, November 20, 2026
- 11:00 a.m.: Postgraduate Convocation, conferment of honorary doctorate degrees and investiture of Emeritus Professors at the UNIZIK Stadium.
- 2:00 p.m.: Convocation Luncheon at the ASUU Secretariat.
Important Information for Graduands and Guests
Graduands, parents, guardians, alumni, staff, students and invited guests are advised to take note of the schedule and make the necessary arrangements to attend the relevant events.
The ceremonies will celebrate the academic achievements of graduands receiving bachelor’s and higher degrees, while also recognising distinguished individuals through honorary doctorate awards and the investiture of Emeritus Professors.
