UNIVERSITY OF BENIN (UNIBEN) ISSUES NOTICE ON COMPLETION OF 2025/2026 SESSION & RESUMPTION FOR 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION

This is to inform all students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) that in harmony with the Senate approved Academic Calendar for the 2025/2026 Session, the Second Semester Examination for full-time undergraduate programmes ends on Saturday 15h August, 2026.

This signifies the end of the 2025/2026 academic session for full-time undergraduate programmes except Faculties that have prior Senate approval to conduct examinations beyond the period approved in the 2025/2026 Academic Calendar.

In that regard, all other categories of full-time undergraduate students are to proceed on sessional holidays on Saturday 15th August, 2026.

The 2026/2027 Academic Session has been approved to commence on 5th October, 2026 with the Clearance/Registration by the new students, while returning students will resume two weeks after.

The Dean, Students' Affairs will provide necessary information and guidelines on vacation of the Halls of Residence for the out-going session; and hostel application process for the in-coming session. Other details will be provided on the University's website from time to time.

Accordingly, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edoba B. Omoregie, SAN, and the University Management appreciate the hardwork, cooperation and sacrifices of all staff and students, especially for fostering a very successful and smooth academic session.

It is hoped that students will utilize the period of holidays to take deserving rest from academic rigours, and get fully prepared for the next Academic Session.
