The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has officially invited applications from qualified Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME candidates for its upcoming Post-UTME Screening Exercise for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Eligibility Criteria
The screening exercise is open to the following categories of UTME candidates:
- First Choice Candidates: Applicants who selected the University of Calabar as their first choice in the 2026/2027 JAMB UTME, applied for any of the institutional programmes, and scored a minimum of 150.
- Change of Institution Candidates: Interested candidates who did not originally choose the University of Calabar as their first choice but now wish to study at the institution, provided they scored a minimum of 150 in the 2026/2027 JAMB UTME.
Registration Timeline
- Portal Opening: Registration officially commences on Monday, 1st June 2026.
- Registration Deadline: The portal will close for applications on 31st July 2026.
New Payment and Registration Procedure
In a bid to ensure a seamless online experience, the university management has phased out the use of E-transact and scratch card PINs. Candidates are required to make a non-refundable screening fee payment of Two Thousand Naira (₦2,000.00) only directly through the secure online portal.
Step-by-Step Method of Application
Candidates must strictly follow these steps to complete their registration:
- Log In: Visit the official UNICAL admissions portal at https://postutme.unical.edu.ng.
- Validation: On the homepage, enter your correct JAMB Registration Number in the designated box to verify your details and confirm eligibility.
- Registration: Upon successful verification, fill out the required registration fields. Candidates must provide a valid email address and an active personal phone number.
- Payment: Proceed to pay the ₦2,000.00 screening fee online. Payments can be made via the platform using any ATM Card, Bank Transfer, or USSD.
- Submit & Print: Review and confirm all entries, click on SUBMIT, and print out the completed registration slip for future reference.
Special Instructions to Candidates
- Valid Contact Information: Applicants must submit a functional email address and a personal phone number. The University of Calabar will not be held responsible for unsuccessful applications resulting from invalid contact details.
- Medicine & Surgery Restrictions: In strict compliance with the 'CCMAS', the University of Calabar will not accept O'Level results obtained at two sittings for candidates applying for Medicine and Surgery.
- False Declarations: The university maintains a zero-tolerance policy for academic dishonesty. There will be an automatic disqualification for candidates who falsify UTME scores, Ordinary Level result grades (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB), or states of origin. Such candidates will forfeit any consideration for admission.
