UNIVERSITY OF DELTA, AGBOR REITERATES BAN ON SIGN-OUT CEREMONIES, WARNS FINAL-YEAR STUDENTS AGAINST VIOLATIONS

The management of the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor has once again reminded students that the ban on Sign-Out Ceremonies remains fully in force across the university campus.

In an official notice issued by the institution, the university emphasized that the directive, which was approved by the Senate of the University, remains valid and binding on all students, particularly final-year students who are preparing to conclude their academic programmes.

The university stated that the renewed warning became necessary to ensure orderliness, maintain campus security, and prevent activities capable of disrupting the academic environment.

Prohibited Sign-Out Activities

According to the management, students are strictly prohibited from engaging in any form of sign-out celebration within the university premises.

Activities banned by the institution include:

• Wearing customized or inscribed T-shirts for sign-out celebrations.
• Writing marker inscriptions on clothes and other personal items.
• Sewing and wearing uniform fabrics popularly known as "Aso Ebi."
• Playing loud music or organizing entertainment activities on campus for sign-out purposes.
• Gathering in groups to celebrate the completion of examinations.

The university warned that any student found violating these directives would face disciplinary action in line with the institution's regulations.

Warning Against Security Escorts

The institution also expressed concern over the growing trend of students arriving on campus with uniformed security personnel during sign-out celebrations.

UNIDEL stated that any student or group of students who enters the university campus accompanied by security escorts for celebratory purposes will have the vehicle involved impounded immediately.

Furthermore, any security personnel found participating in such activities will be reported to the appropriate authorities, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army, for necessary disciplinary measures.

Parents and Well-Wishers Advised to Stay Away

The university has also advised parents, guardians, relatives, friends, and well-wishers not to visit the campus for the purpose of celebrating graduating students after examinations.

Management stressed that such visits often contribute to unauthorized gatherings and activities that violate university regulations.

Photographers and Event Organizers Not Exempted

The institution warned photographers and event organizers against setting up stages, platforms, banners, or any facilities intended to facilitate sign-out celebrations within the university environment.

Any individual found providing such services on campus will be apprehended and handed over to the relevant authorities for appropriate action.

Security Surveillance Intensified

To ensure strict compliance, the Chief Security Officer and the University Security Team have been directed to intensify surveillance across the campus immediately after examinations.

The security team has been mandated to prevent unauthorized gatherings and enforce all regulations relating to the ban on sign-out ceremonies.

Disciplinary Measures Await Defaulters

The university reiterated that any student found organizing, participating in, or encouraging sign-out activities contrary to the institution's directive will be referred to the Students' Disciplinary Committee.

Such students may face sanctions ranging from suspension of privileges to other disciplinary measures as determined by the committee.

University Calls for Compliance

The management of the University of Delta, Agbor urged all students to cooperate fully with the directive and conduct themselves responsibly as they conclude their examinations.

The institution emphasized that the only officially recognized activities for graduating students are those approved by the university and organized through proper channels.

Students are therefore advised to celebrate responsibly and avoid actions that could jeopardize their academic records or attract disciplinary sanctions.
