UNIVERSITY ON THE NIGER RECEIVES FULL STATUTORY LICENCE FROM NUC
The University on the Niger, Umunya, Anambra State, has officially received a Full Statutory Licence from the Federal Government of Nigeria through the National Universities Commission (NUC), formally confirming its status as a fully licensed private university in Nigeria.
The development marks a significant milestone in the history and growth of the university and represents the successful completion of its probationary period following its initial licensing and commencement of academic activities in 2023.
NUC CONDUCTS INSTITUTIONAL ASSESSMENT
The grant of the Full Statutory Licence followed the university’s successful participation in the institutional assessment and accreditation processes conducted by the National Universities Commission in April 2026.
According to the university, the assessment involved a comprehensive evaluation of several areas, including its academic programmes, faculty quality, governance structures, infrastructure, library and learning resources, quality assurance systems and its overall capacity to sustain university education in line with established standards.
The successful outcome of the assessment paved the way for the transition from a Provisional Licence to a Full Statutory Licence.
