YOBE STATE UNIVERSITY (YSU) POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION 2025/2026

Yobe State University (YSU) has officially announced the commencement of sales for postgraduate application forms for the 2025/2026 academic session. The application window is open from 30th April to 13th June 2026.

I. AVAILABLE PROGRAMMES

The university offers a variety of specialized programmes across several faculties:

Faculty of Arts

• Arabic: PGD, M.A., and Ph.D. (Linguistics or Literature).
• English: M.A. and Ph.D. (Language or Literature).
• History & International Studies: PGD in Policy and Strategic Studies; M.A. and Ph.D. in History.
• Islamic Studies: M.A. and Ph.D. (Fiqh, Usul Fiqh, and Usuluddeen).
• Language and Linguistics: M.A. and Ph.D. in Linguistics; M.A. and Ph.D. in Hausa (Language, Literature, or Culture).

Faculty of Education

• Arts & Social Science Education: M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Planning.
• Science Education: PGDE; M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology; M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Guidance and Counselling.

Faculty of Social and Management Sciences

• Economics: PGD (Economics or Health Economics); M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Economics.
• Geography: PGD (Environmental Management or GIS/Remote Sensing); M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Geography.
• Political Science: M.Sc. and Ph.D. in International Relations and Strategic Studies; Master's in Governance and Development Studies.
• Public Administration: PGDPA, PGDLGA; M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Public Administration.
• Accounting & Business: PGDA, PGDM; M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Accounting or Management.

Faculty of Sciences

• Biological Sciences: PGD (Ecology or Plant Science); M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Environmental Biology, Plant Science, and Zoology.

II. APPLICATION FEES

Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable fee based on the level of the programme:

• Ph.D. and Master’s Programmes: ₦20,000.
• Postgraduate Diploma (PGD): ₦15,000.

III. HOW TO APPLY

The application process is handled entirely online through the YSU School of Management Information System (SMIS) portal:

1. Portal Access: Navigate to the official YSU postgraduate application page.
   1. Account Creation: Visit the Application Link to register as a new user.
   2. Payment: Complete the required non-refundable payment through the portal's integrated payment system.
   3. Submission: Fill out the application form accurately and upload all necessary documents before the June 13, 2026 deadline.
