ABSU Announces 30th–32nd Combined Convocation Ceremonies
The Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University (ABSU), Ndukwe J. Okeudo, on behalf of the University Council and Senate, has invited members of the academic community, parents, guardians, and well-wishers to the 30th, 31st, and 32nd Combined Convocation Ceremonies of the institution.
The combined convocation will celebrate the achievements of graduands from the 2022/2023, 2023/2024, and 2024/2025 academic sessions. The event will feature several activities scheduled over multiple days at the university.
The programme will begin on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, with the Vice-Chancellor’s Pre-Convocation Press Briefing, which will take place at the Senate Chamber of Abia State University at 11:00 a.m.
Another key event in the convocation programme is the Pre-Convocation Lecture, scheduled for Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the University Auditorium by 10:00 a.m. The lecture will be delivered by Bart Nnaji, a former Minister of Power in the Nigeria.
The grand finale of the convocation ceremony will hold on Friday, March 27, 2026, when the university will confer First Degrees and Higher Degrees on qualified graduands. The ceremony will also feature the presentation of prizes and the award of Honorary Doctorate Degrees to distinguished personalities.
Those to receive honorary doctorate degrees include Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, popularly known as the Ooni of Ife, Allen Onyema, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, and Stella Chinyelu Okoli, the Group Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries in Lagos.
As part of the preparations for the convocation ceremony, the university has announced the hiring of academic regalia and payment for the convocation brochure. The cost for hiring academic regalia and obtaining the convocation brochure is ₦20,000 for higher degree graduands and ₦15,000 for first degree graduands.
All payments are to be made through the Abia State University Microfinance Bank in Uturu or any other designated bank approved by the university. The issuance of academic regalia and convocation materials will begin on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
The university has also advised all invited guests to be seated by 9:30 a.m. on the day of the main convocation ceremony before the arrival of the academic procession.
The management of Abia State University encouraged members of the university community and the general public to participate in the convocation activities as the institution celebrates the academic achievements of its graduating students.
