AKWA IBOM STATE UNIVERSITY APPOINTS NEW REGISTRAR, BURSAR AND UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN

The Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has approved the appointment of new Principal Officers for the institution following its 68th Virtual Meeting held on Monday, August 24, 2026.

The appointments were made after the Council considered the report of the Interview Panels for the respective positions.

NEW PRINCIPAL OFFICERS

The newly appointed Principal Officers are:

  • Mr. Mfon Solomon Ukpabio – Registrar
  • Mr. Mfon Asuquo Sam – Bursar
  • Dr. Godswill Udo Okon – University Librarian

According to the University, the appointments will take effect from October 5, 2026, and each appointee will serve a single term of five (5) years in line with the provisions of the Akwa Ibom State University Law and the relevant statutes governing the institution.

GOVERNING COUNCIL EXPRESSES CONFIDENCE IN APPOINTEES

The Governing Council, under the leadership of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Distinguished Senator Udoma U. Udoma, CON, expressed confidence in the ability of the newly appointed Principal Officers to provide effective leadership in their respective offices.

The Council stated that it believes the appointees possess the experience and capacity required to contribute significantly to the continued growth and development of Akwa Ibom State University.

APPOINTMENTS EXPECTED TO STRENGTHEN UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION

The University noted that the appointments are expected to enhance the institution's administrative, financial and library services while supporting its mandate in teaching, research, innovation and community service.

The new Principal Officers are also expected to play key roles in advancing the University's strategic objectives and improving service delivery across their respective departments.

UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY URGED TO SUPPORT NEW OFFICERS

On behalf of the Governing Council, the Vice-Chancellor, staff, students and the entire University Community, congratulations were extended to the newly appointed Principal Officers.

The University wished them a successful and impactful tenure in office and called on members of the University Community to accord them the necessary cooperation and support to enable them discharge their responsibilities effectively.

The appointments mark another important step in strengthening the leadership and administration of Akwa Ibom State University as the institution continues its pursuit of excellence in teaching, research, innovation and community service.
