BAMIDELE OLUMILUA UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, IKERE-EKITI (BOUESTI) SUSPENDS IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW TUITION FEE PAYMENT POLICY
The management of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI) has announced the suspension of the implementation of its newly introduced tuition fee payment policy following concerns raised by students.
The decision comes after the university received feedback from students regarding the earlier circular that discontinued the payment of tuition fees by installments beginning from the 2026/2027 academic session.
According to the management, it appreciates the peaceful manner in which students expressed their concerns and acknowledges the prevailing economic challenges facing many students, parents, and guardians.
The University reiterated its commitment to ensuring that no qualified student is denied access to higher education while also maintaining the financial sustainability of the institution.
Previous Payment Structure Retained
Following further consultations with the University Governing Council, the management approved the suspension of the new payment policy.
Consequently, the existing tuition payment arrangement will remain in effect until further notice. Under the current policy, students are allowed to pay their tuition fees as follows:
- 60% of tuition fees during the First Semester
- 40% of tuition fees during the Second Semester
The university noted that this arrangement will continue to apply pending any future review.
Outstanding Fees Must Be Paid
Despite the suspension of the new policy, the management reminded students of their responsibility to pay all prescribed fees promptly in line with the approved payment schedule.
Students who still have outstanding tuition fees for the 2025/2026 academic session have been directed to clear all unpaid balances without further delay. The university also announced that the registration portal will be reopened to enable affected students complete their course registration after settling their outstanding fees.
Management Appeals for Continued Peace
The university management thanked students for their understanding, maturity, and cooperation throughout the engagement process.
Students were also urged to remain law-abiding, maintain peace and order on campus, and focus on their academic activities while the institution continues to pursue policies that promote both student welfare and institutional development.
The management further reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining open communication and constructive engagement with students and other stakeholders in the interest of the continued growth and progress of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI).
