DSUST Announces Availability of University Hostel and New Policy on Further Studies for Non-Academic Staff

The management of Delta State University of Science and Technology Ozoro has announced the availability of hostel accommodation for students ahead of the forthcoming semester.

In a notice released by the Information and Public Relations Unit of the Vice Chancellor’s Office, the university informed students who currently reside off-campus that the university hostel is now open for occupancy.

Hostel Accommodation for Students

According to the announcement, the hostel rooms are well equipped with toilet facilities in each room, providing comfort and convenience for students who wish to live within the campus.

Students who are interested in securing accommodation in the university hostel are advised to visit the Office of the Dean of Students’ Affairs to obtain the hostel application form for the upcoming semester.

The management also stated that only half payment of the hostel accommodation fee will be required for the coming semester. This arrangement is intended to make the accommodation more accessible and affordable for students.

All interested students of Delta State University of Science and Technology Ozoro are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and complete their application process as soon as possible.

Policy on Further Studies for Non-Academic Staff

In a related development, the university management has also issued a policy directive regarding further studies for Non-Academic Staff.

The management expressed concern that some Non-Academic Staff apply for further studies shortly after gaining employment with the university. According to the institution, such actions are contrary to the rules guiding the employment conditions of Non-Academic Staff.

The university therefore announced that any Non-Academic Staff seeking to pursue further studies must first complete a minimum of seven (7) years of service in the university before approval can be granted.

The policy also clarifies that Academic Staff are permitted to pursue further studies at any time, provided they comply with the applicable academic and institutional regulations.

Furthermore, the management warned that any Non-Academic Staff who proceeds with further studies without official approval will not have the certificate obtained from such studies recognized or considered for staff promotion or upgrade within the university.

However, the directive does not apply to Non-Academic Staff whose studies had already been approved before the release of this notification.

The university management therefore advised all staff members to strictly adhere to this policy in order to avoid any administrative consequences.

The notice concluded by urging both staff and students to comply with the directives as the institution continues its efforts to maintain order, discipline, and academic excellence.
