The Directorate of Educational Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (DETIE) at Federal University Oye‑Ekiti has officially announced the rescheduling of the Vocational Skills Development Practical Sessions for all 100-level and 200-level students of the institution.
The announcement was made through an internal memorandum issued by the Director of DETIE, Engr. Olarewaju P. Ogunjobi, FNIE, on 16th March, 2026. According to the memo, the practical sessions form a key part of the university’s entrepreneurship education initiative designed to equip students with practical vocational, innovation, and entrepreneurial skills.
These practical sessions are an important component of the institution’s efforts to ensure that students acquire hands-on experience that can help them become self-reliant and innovative after graduation.
New Schedule for the Practical Sessions
The rescheduled practical sessions will now hold as follows:
Date: Friday, 27th March, 2026 and Saturday, 28th March, 2026
Venue:
- Entrepreneurship Centre, Oye Campus – for students on the Oye Campus
- Entrepreneurship Centre, Ikole Campus – for students on the Ikole Campus
Both venues are located within Federal University Oye‑Ekiti.
Time:
- Friday: 8:30 AM
- Saturday: 10:30 AM
Courses Involved
The practical sessions are part of the academic assessment for the following entrepreneurship courses:
- ENT 101 – Introduction to Entrepreneurship (for 100-level students)
- ENT 211 – Entrepreneurship and Innovation (for 200-level students)
DETIE emphasized that the practical component of these courses accounts for 40% of the total assessment score. This makes participation in the sessions extremely important for students enrolled in the courses.
Compulsory Attendance
The Directorate stressed that attendance at the practical sessions is mandatory. Students are therefore strongly advised to attend the sessions as scheduled.
Attendance will be officially recorded, and any student who fails to participate may face appropriate academic sanctions in line with the academic regulations of Federal University Oye‑Ekiti.
Dissemination of Information
The memorandum has been circulated to several key officials within the university, including:
- The Provost of the College of Medicine
- Deans of all Faculties
- The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Strategy, Partnerships, Research, Innovation and Linkages – SPRIL)
Heads of Departments and lecturers have also been directed to ensure that the information is communicated promptly to students within their respective faculties to guarantee full participation and compliance.
