FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND MEDICAL SCIENCES, ABEOKUTA (FUMMSA) ANNOUNCES 2026/2027 ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The management of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA) has released the eligibility criteria and admission requirements for candidates seeking admission into the institution for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The university, which specializes in medical and health-related programmes, has advised prospective candidates to carefully review the requirements and ensure they meet all conditions before applying for admission.
Eligibility Criteria
According to the university, candidates seeking admission into FUMMSA must satisfy the following requirements:
- Candidates must have scored 200 and above in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
- Applicants must have selected Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA) as their first-choice institution.
- Candidates must be at least 16 years old on or before September 30, 2026.
- Applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes in relevant O'Level subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics, and Physics.
- Candidates seeking admission into Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Science, Pharmacy, and Dental Surgery must obtain the required O'Level credits in one sitting only.
- For other programmes, O'Level results obtained in a maximum of two sittings are acceptable.
- Only results from WAEC and NECO will be accepted.
Admission Requirements
Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements will be qualified to participate in the university's Post-UTME Screening Exercise.
The university disclosed that details regarding the commencement of Post-UTME registration and screening will be announced later through its official communication channels.
Applicants will be required to pay:
- ₦2,000 for the Post-UTME Screening Application.
- ₦4,000 for Portal Access.
Payments will be made through the university's admission portal using approved payment channels.
Admission Screening Process
FUMMSA explained that admission consideration will be based on an aggregate scoring system.
The university stated that:
- The Post-UTME screening exercise will carry 50 marks.
- O'Level results will also contribute 50 marks.
- Candidates' aggregate scores will be determined using a 50% UTME/Post-UTME score and 50% O'Level result combination.
- Admission cut-off points for each programme will be determined based on candidates' aggregate performance.
Prospective students are therefore encouraged to perform well both in their UTME and O'Level examinations to improve their chances of securing admission.
Beware of Admission Scammers
The university has warned candidates and parents against dealing with unauthorized individuals or groups claiming to facilitate admission.
According to the institution, all admission-related transactions, applications, and payments will be carried out exclusively through the university's official portal.
FUMMSA emphasized that it has not appointed any admission agents and that anyone claiming to represent the university for admission purposes should be regarded as a fraudster.
Candidates are advised to remain vigilant and obtain information only from official university sources.
