NASARAWA STATE UNIVERSITY, KEFFI (NSUK) SENATE UNBUNDLES FACULTY OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCES INTO 3 NEW FACULTIES
The Senate of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) has approved the restructuring of its Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences into three separate faculties as part of efforts to enhance academic administration, specialization, and quality education delivery.
The decision was taken during the university's 140th Regular Senate Meeting held on May 25, 2026.
Newly Created Faculties
Following the approval, the former Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences has been unbundled into:
- Faculty of Computing
- Faculty of Life Sciences
- Faculty of Physical Sciences
According to the university, the restructuring is aimed at aligning academic programmes with global best practices while promoting teaching, research, innovation, and capacity development.
Department of Statistics and Data Analytics Reassigned
As part of the restructuring, the Senate also approved the transfer of the Department of Statistics and Data Analytics from the proposed Faculty of Physical Sciences to the Faculty of Computing.
The university explained that the decision reflects the growing importance of statistics and data analytics in areas such as data science, artificial intelligence, computing, and emerging digital technologies.
Awaiting Governing Council Approval
The approved recommendations have been forwarded to the University's Governing Council for final consideration and approval in accordance with institutional regulations.

The announcement was conveyed in a memorandum signed by Barrister Ramatu A. Liman, Senior Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs), on behalf of the Registrar.
