FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, AKURE (FUTA) PROF. OLABODE AS DEAN, SCHOOL OF COMPUTING

The Management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, has appointed Professor Olabode Olatunbosun of the Department of Data Science as Dean, School of Computing effective 1st August, 2026 for a period of two years.

Olabode had his elementary education at African Bethel School, Ikorodu in1978 and Moribodo College, Ilutitun in1985 respectively before proceeding to the Federal University of Technology, Akure where he obtained his B.Tech. (Industrial Mathematics and Computer), M.Tech., and PhD (Computer Science) degrees in 1991, 1999 and 2005 respectively. He also holds M.Tech., Statistics (FUTA) in 2015 and M.Sc in Peace and Security Studies from Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti in 2021.

He started his teaching career as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Industrial Mathematics and Computer Science, FUTA, in 1995 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in the Department of Computer Science, FUTA in 2015.

Professor Olabode served as Acting Head of Computer Science Department in addition to serving as Chairman and member of several committees of the University. Outside FUTA, he served as external examiner for under and post graduate programmes at Novena University, Delta State; Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji Arakeji; Achievers University, Owo; Kings University, Ode Omu, Osun State; Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State; Caleb University, Imota; and Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, India.

A widely travelled academic with several publications to his credit, he is also a member of professional bodies.

Olabode is married and blessed with children.
