FUD Senate Reiterates 75% Mandatory Lecture Attendance for Students

The Senate of Federal University Dutse has reiterated that all students must maintain a minimum of 75% lecture attendance before they can be permitted to sit for examinations.

The decision was reaffirmed during the institution’s 75th Senate meeting held on Thursday, 30th April, 2026.

According to the Senate, the directive is aimed at strengthening academic discipline, improving students’ participation in classroom activities, and enhancing overall academic performance across the university.

Implementation Begins Second Semester

The university management stated that the directive will be fully implemented starting from the Second Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Session.

Students who fail to meet the required attendance percentage may not be allowed to write their examinations, regardless of other academic or registration status.

Students Advised to Comply

The Senate urged all students to take lecture attendance seriously and ensure regular participation in all academic activities throughout the semester.

Lecturers and departments are also expected to closely monitor attendance records to ensure strict compliance with the policy.

The university emphasized that consistent attendance remains an essential part of students’ academic responsibilities and overall success within the institution.
