The Governing Council of the Federal University of Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, has announced the appointment of three key principal officers to bolster its administrative leadership. These strategic appointments were finalized and approved during the Council’s 10th Special Meeting, which took place on Monday, February 2, 2026.

The move is seen as a commitment by the university to ensure that seasoned professionals lead its technical and academic support departments. Under the leadership of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Williams O. Aderounmu, the university has filled vital roles in the library, physical planning, and maintenance sectors.

Profiles of the New Appointees

The newly appointed officers bring decades of combined experience from within the Nigerian university system and professional engineering and planning bodies.

  1. Dr. Tukur Abba – University Librarian
Dr. Tukur Abba joins the Federal University of Kashere from Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, where he serves as an Associate Professor. He is no stranger to top-tier academic administration, having previously served as the University Librarian at MAU between 2018 and 2023. An expert in information science, Dr. Abba holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD in his field. He is also a registered member of the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN), ensuring that the FUK library will be managed under the highest professional standards.
  2. Engr. Abdullahi Adamu Mohammed – Director of Works and Maintenance Services
Engr. Abdullahi Adamu Mohammed, who previously served in an acting capacity, has now been confirmed as the substantive Director of Works and Maintenance Services. A graduate of Mechanical Engineering from Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Engr. Mohammed is a highly decorated professional. He holds memberships with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), and the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE). His role is central to maintaining the university's mechanical infrastructure and utility services.
  3. Tpl. Muhammad Imam Yunusa – Director of Physical Planning
Promoted from within the institution, Tpl. Muhammad Imam Yunusa has been appointed as the Director of Physical Planning. He holds a B.Tech in Urban and Regional Planning from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi. Having joined FUK in 2011, he has a deep understanding of the campus master plan. He rose to the rank of Deputy Director in 2022 before this latest elevation, making him well-equipped to manage the university's spatial growth and infrastructure projects.

Mandate for Institutional Growth

While congratulating the new officers, Prof. Williams O. Aderounmu emphasized the high expectations the Council has for their respective directorates. He urged them to deploy their wealth of experience and professional expertise toward the rapid growth and development of the University.

The Council believes that by stabilizing the leadership in these critical areas—Information (Library), Infrastructure (Works), and Expansion (Physical Planning)—the Federal University of Kashere will be better positioned to meet the demands of its increasing student population and research goals.

The University Management has confirmed that all these appointments take immediate effect, allowing the new officers to hit the ground running for the current academic session.
