GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN MEXT SCHOLARSHIP AT ASIA PACIFIC UNIVERSITY OPENS FOR 2027 APPLICATIONS

The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has opened applications for the 2027 Government of Japan (MEXT) Scholarship at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), Japan.

The fully funded scholarship offers outstanding international students the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies in Japan with comprehensive financial support covering tuition, living expenses, travel and other study-related costs.

The application deadline is November 5, 2026.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Successful applicants for the APU MEXT Scholarship will receive the following benefits:

• Full admission fee waiver.
• Full tuition fee coverage.
• Monthly subsistence allowance of 144,000 Japanese Yen (JPY), including housing support (subject to change).
• Medical insurance.
• Books and instructional materials.
• Round-trip economy-class airfare between the recipient's home country and Japan at the beginning and end of the programme.

The scholarship enables recipients to complete their postgraduate studies in Japan without the burden of major educational and living expenses.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for the Government of Japan MEXT Scholarship at Asia Pacific University, applicants must:

• Be an international student eligible to study in Japan.
• Be a national of a MEXT-designated eligible country.
• Have been born on or after April 2, 1992.
• Have obtained a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.30 on a 3.00 scale at their most recent university.

STUDY LEVEL

The scholarship is available for Postgraduate (Master's and Doctoral) programmes offered at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU).
