The Management of Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo, has officially approved the commencement of the Inter-Departmental Transfer process for the 2025/2026 academic session. In a circular released by the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) on 6th February 2026, the university announced a ten-day window for returning students who wish to transition from their current academic programmes to new fields of study.
This exercise is designed to provide a "second chance" for students whose academic interests have shifted or those who have been formally advised to change programmes due to poor academic performance. By facilitating these movements, TSU ensures that students are placed in departments where they are most likely to succeed and contribute to their chosen professions.
The Application Window and Timeline
The transfer portal is scheduled to be active for a very limited duration. Students are advised to make their decisions and complete payments early to avoid portal congestion toward the deadline.

Portal Closing Date: Friday, 20th February 2026
Eligibility and Academic Requirements
The university has set specific Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) benchmarks to ensure that students transferring into highly competitive or rigorous departments possess the necessary academic foundation.
Students with poor academic standing who have received formal notification from their current departments to seek a "Change of Programme" are also eligible. However, such students must still meet the basic O'Level and UTME requirements of the receiving department.
The Application Procedure
The process is entirely digital and follows a structured workflow to ensure transparency and proper documentation:
Payment: Interested candidates must first pay the non-refundable registration and application fees via the university's payment gateway.
Portal Submission: After payment, students must log in to the university portal to fill out the transfer form, specifying their current and intended departments.
Vetting: Applications will be reviewed by the Heads of Departments (HODs) and Deans of the respective faculties.
Final Approval: All transfers are subject to the final recommendation of the Central Admission Committee, chaired by Dr. Ahmad Baba Muhammad.

Dr. Ahmad Baba Muhammad, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & Research), has explicitly enjoined Deans and Heads of Departments to strictly adhere to the established guidelines. This ensures that the transfer process does not compromise the quota or academic integrity of any department.
Students are cautioned that a transfer is not automatic upon payment. Approval is strictly based on the availability of space in the receiving department and the student’s ability to meet the departmental cut-off marks and prerequisites.
