Kaduna State University (KASU): Revised Working Hours and Administrative Directives for Ramadan 2026
The Management of Kaduna State University (KASU), through the Office of the Registrar, officially notifies all staff and students of the temporary adjustment to institutional operations in observance of the holy month of Ramadan. As an institution deeply rooted in a community that values this spiritual period, the university has implemented these changes to balance religious obligations with the need to maintain academic and administrative momentum for the 2025/2026 session.
Official Ramadan Working Hours
Following the commencement of the fast on Wednesday, 18th February 2026, the Vice-Chancellor has approved the following schedule for all university offices across both the Kaduna and Kafanchan campuses:
Operating Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Effective Duration: This schedule remains in force for the duration of the Ramadan period only.
Resumption of Normal Hours: Standard university working hours will be reinstated immediately following the Eid-el-Fitr holidays.
Directives on Discipline and Duty
The Management wishes to state clearly that the adjustment of hours is a concession for religious observance and must not be misinterpreted as a period of reduced productivity. Staff are strictly advised to take their duties seriously to ensure that the university's service delivery to students and the public remains unhindered.
The following disciplinary protocols have been activated for this period:
Zero Tolerance for Lateness: Faculty and Departmental heads are directed to monitor attendance registers strictly. Late arrival or early departure without prior authorization will be documented.
Attendance Monitoring: Non-attendance at duty posts will not be tolerated. Staff members who fail to report for work without a valid, documented excuse will face immediate disciplinary action in accordance with the KASU Senior and Junior Staff Conditions of Service.
Service Continuity: All essential services, including security, health services, and farm operations in the Faculty of Agriculture, will continue to run on their established shift patterns.
Academic and Registration Continuity
While the administrative hours have been adjusted, the academic calendar remains in full effect. Students and staff are reminded of the ongoing registration extension and the upcoming Continuous Assessment (CA) tests.
Portal Deadlines: The registration portal remains open until Wednesday, 4th March 2026. Staff in the ICT and Bursary units are expected to provide full support to students during the adjusted working hours.
Lecture Timetables: Lectures will continue as scheduled; however, lecturers are encouraged to be mindful of the fast when scheduling evening or late-afternoon makeup classes.
