KASHIM IBRAHIM UNIVERSITY APPROVES 2026/2027 ACADEMIC CALENDAR
Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU), Maiduguri, has approved the academic calendar for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The calendar was approved by the University Senate at its 30th Regular Meeting held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, outlining the schedule for resumption, registration, lectures, examinations, semester breaks and other academic activities for the session.
RESUMPTION AND REGISTRATION
According to the approved calendar, returning students are expected to resume and commence lectures on Monday, October 5, 2026.
The resumption and registration of new students will also run from Monday, October 5 to Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Students are advised to complete the necessary registration processes within the stipulated period.
FIRST SEMESTER ACTIVITIES
The first semester will include lectures, registration, orientation, matriculation and examinations for both returning and newly admitted students.
Some of the major dates are as follows:
- Monday, October 5, 2026: Returning students resume and lectures commence.
- Monday, October 5 – Saturday, October 17, 2026: Resumption and registration of new students.
- Monday, January 18 – Saturday, February 6, 2027: First Semester Examinations for returning students.
- Monday, January 25 – Saturday, February 13, 2027: First Semester Examinations for new students.
- Wednesday, February 10, 2027: Orientation for newly admitted students.
- Thursday, February 11, 2027: Matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students.
FIRST SEMESTER BREAK
The University has also scheduled different semester break periods for returning and newly admitted students.
Returning students:
Sunday, February 7 – Sunday, February 21, 2027.
New students:
Sunday, February 14 – Sunday, February 21, 2027.
SECOND SEMESTER
Lectures for all students in the second semester are scheduled to run from Monday, February 22 to Saturday, June 5, 2027.
The second-semester examinations will subsequently hold from Monday, June 7 to Saturday, June 26, 2027.
LONG VACATION AND NEXT ACADEMIC SESSION
Following the completion of the second-semester examinations, the University has scheduled a long vacation from Monday, June 28 to Sunday, October 3, 2027.
The 2027/2028 academic session is expected to commence on Monday, October 4, 2027.

The University also stated that all national and state public holidays will be observed during the academic session.
