Kogi State Polytechnic (KSP), Lokoja: Commencement of Second Semester 2025/2026 Academic Session
The Management of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has officially ratified the schedule for the second half of the 2025/2026 academic year. Following a review of the institutional calendar by the Academic Board, all staff and students are hereby notified that the Second Semester will formally commence on Friday, 27th February 2026. This resumption date marks the end of the inter-semester break and the beginning of administrative preparations for the new term, with students expected to return to the campus and various halls of residence to begin their registration processes.
Academic activities, including the full commencement of lectures across all departments and schools—ranging from the School of Management Studies to the School of Applied Sciences—are scheduled to start on Monday, 2nd March 2026. The Polytechnic management emphasizes that the 2025/2026 session is operating on a precise timeline to ensure that students complete their curriculum within the allotted fifteen weeks for the semester. Consequently, students are advised to treat this resumption notice with the utmost importance and ensure they are present for the first day of lectures to maintain their academic standing and meet the mandatory attendance requirements for final examinations.
Administrative Directives and Registration Guidelines
In line with the Rector’s vision for a digitalized and efficient campus, all course registrations for the Second Semester must be completed through the official university portal. Students are reminded that the registration window opens immediately upon resumption. The institution maintains a strict policy regarding the signing of dockets and course forms; therefore, students must ensure their departmental advisors vet their course loads before final submission. For students in the School of Engineering and other technical fields, the commencement of lectures on March 2nd also signifies the start of laboratory and workshop sessions, which are integral to the vocational mandate of the Polytechnic.
The Management also wishes to inform students that the Second Semester involves intensive continuous assessments. The 2025/2026 calendar has been structured to include a mid-semester break and a dedicated "Continuous Assessment Week" later in the term. Students who have outstanding issues from the First Semester—including those relating to fee payments or results consideration—are urged to use the first week of resumption to visit the Directorate of Information Technology and Resource Centre (ITRC) or the Bursary for immediate resolution. Failure to finalize registration within the approved period may lead to penalties or the inability to participate in semester tests.
Safety, Welfare, and Campus Conduct
As students return to Lokoja and the Itakpe campus, the Security Unit has been directed to maintain high alert and ensure the safety of lives and property. Students are encouraged to carry their valid identity cards at all times and adhere to the institution’s dress code and code of conduct. The Student Affairs Division has also overseen the maintenance of hostel facilities during the short break to provide a conducive living environment. The university health services will be fully operational to cater to the medical needs of the returning community.
