LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF ARTS ELECTS PROFESSOR KABIRU PARAMOLE AS NEW DEAN

The Lagos State University (LASU) has officially announced the election of Professor Kabiru Olawale Paramole as the new Dean of the Faculty of Arts following a keenly contested election held at the university's main campus.

Professor Paramole, of the Department of Religions and Peace Studies, emerged victorious after securing the majority of votes cast during the election.

Professor Paramole Emerges Winner

The election took place on Tuesday, 14th July 2026, at the New TETFund Postgraduate Hall 1, LASU Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.

At the end of the exercise, Professor Kabiru Olawale Paramole polled 51 votes to defeat Professor Isaac Adeniyi Yekini-Ajenifuja of the Department of Music, who secured 47 votes.

A total of 101 votes were cast, with three votes declared void.

The election result was officially announced by the Deputy Registrar/Faculty Officer and Returning Officer, Mr. Samuel Gbedozin, who declared Professor Paramole the duly elected Dean-designate of the Faculty of Arts.

Assumption of Office

The current Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Ayo Ayodele, will complete his tenure on Friday, 31st July 2026.

Professor Kabiru Paramole is expected to officially assume office as the new Dean on Saturday, 1st August 2026.

Outgoing Dean Congratulates Successor

Following the announcement of the results, Professor Ayo Ayodele congratulated Professor Paramole on his victory and expressed confidence that the incoming Dean would continue to promote academic excellence and contribute significantly to the growth and development of the Faculty of Arts.

The university community has also congratulated Professor Paramole on his election and wished him a successful tenure.
