LASU ANNOUNCES VALEDICTORY LECTURE & BOOK LAUNCH IN HONOUR OF OUTGOING VICE-CHANCELLOR, PROF. IBIYEMI OLATUNJI-BELLO

The Lagos State University (LASU) has announced plans to host a special Valedictory Lecture and Book Launch in honour of its outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, as she concludes her successful five-year tenure as the institution's ninth substantive Vice-Chancellor.

The event is designed to celebrate Professor Olatunji-Bello's remarkable leadership, institutional reforms, and contributions to the growth and transformation of Lagos State University during her administration.

According to the university, the Valedictory Lecture will be delivered by the outgoing Vice-Chancellor herself and is titled:

"From Vision to Legacy: Leadership, Institutional Transformation and the Making of a Globally Competitive Lagos State University."

The lecture is expected to highlight the milestones, achievements, challenges, and strategic initiatives that shaped LASU into one of Nigeria's leading universities during her tenure.

Book Launch

The occasion will also feature the official launch of a commemorative book titled:

"Fortitude: An Insider's Account of the Emergence of Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello as LASU's Ninth Vice-Chancellor and the Events that Shaped Her Administration."

The publication chronicles the journey that led to Professor Olatunji-Bello's emergence as Vice-Chancellor and provides an insider's perspective on the significant events, reforms, and achievements that characterized her administration.

The university has invited members of the university community, alumni, stakeholders, friends of the institution, and the general public to attend the event.

Date: Thursday, 17th September, 2026

Venue: Buba Marwa Auditorium, LASU Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos State

Time: 11:00 a.m.

Guests are expected to be seated by: 10:30 a.m.

The event is expected to attract distinguished academics, government officials, education stakeholders, alumni, students, and friends of the university who will gather to celebrate the outgoing Vice-Chancellor's legacy and contributions to higher education in Nigeria.

As preparations continue, LASU has encouraged all invited guests to arrive early and be seated before the commencement of the programme.
