LASUED Announces Independent Indigeneship Verification Exercise for 2026/2027 Admission
The Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) has announced the commencement of the Independent Indigeneship Verification Exercise for candidates of Lagos State origin seeking admission into the institution for the 2026/2027 academic session.
According to the university management, the exercise is specifically for candidates who selected LASUED as their first-choice institution in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored a minimum of 185.
Registration Period
Online registration for the verification exercise will commence on:
- Opening Date: Monday, 18th May, 2026
- Closing Date: Sunday, 14th June, 2026
Verification Interview Schedule
The verification interview will run for four weeks as follows:
First Week
- Monday, 1st June, 2026
- Tuesday, 2nd June, 2026
- Wednesday, 3rd June, 2026
- Thursday, 4th June, 2026
Second Week
- Monday, 8th June, 2026
- Tuesday, 9th June, 2026
- Wednesday, 10th June, 2026
- Thursday, 11th June, 2026
Third Week
- Monday, 15th June, 2026
- Tuesday, 16th June, 2026
- Wednesday, 17th June, 2026
- Thursday, 18th June, 2026
Fourth Week
- Monday, 22nd June, 2026

Requirements for Verification Exercise
Candidates are expected to present the following documents during the screening:
- Indigeneship Form
- Payment Receipt
- Candidate’s Birth Certificate (Original and Photocopy)
- Father’s Birth Certificate (Original and Photocopy)
- Letter from Oba
- Letter from Chairman of Local Government Area
- Landed Property Documents
The university emphasized that only a “Letter from Oba” will be accepted.

Important Information for Applicants
- Only candidates of Lagos State origin are eligible for the verification exercise.
- Clearance by the LASUED Independent Indigeneship Verification Committee (LIIVC) is compulsory before admission consideration.
- Direct Entry candidates of Lagos State origin are also required to participate in the exercise.
- Candidates who participated in the 2025/2026 exercise but were not admitted are expected to revalidate their clearance certificates at the same venue.
- The verification exercise does not automatically guarantee admission into the university.
Disclaimer
The university warned applicants against making payments to unauthorized individuals or accounts, stressing that any payment made outside the official portal is at the candidate’s risk.
The management further reiterated that only candidates who scored 185 and above in the 2026 UTME are qualified to apply.
