LENS UNIVERSITY, ILEMONA SECURES NUC APPROVAL FOR 12 NEW ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES

The Lens University, Ilemona has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the establishment of twelve (12) new academic programmes to be run at its main campus beginning from the 2026/2027 academic session.

The approval follows a successful resource inspection exercise conducted by the NUC team on Saturday, May 9, 2026, and was officially communicated in a letter dated June 16, 2026, signed by the Director of Academic Planning at the NUC, Abubakar M. Girei.

NUC Confirms Approval

According to the NUC, the Executive Secretary has approved the establishment of the full-time academic programmes after reviewing the university’s readiness in terms of facilities, staffing, and academic capacity.

The programmes are approved to run at the university’s main campus and are expected to commence in the 2026/2027 academic session.

The twelve approved programmes include:

  • L.L.B. Law
  • L.L.B. Common and Islamic Law
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)
  • Doctor of Optometry
  • Doctor of Physiotherapy (D.PT)
  • B.CHS. Community Health Science
  • B.Rad. Radiology
  • B.Eng. Computer Engineering
  • B.Eng. Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • B.Sc. Software Engineering
  • B.Sc. Marketing
  • B.Sc. Economics
  • B.Sc. Finance

Reacting to the development, the proprietors of Lens University expressed appreciation to the Federal Government through the National Universities Commission for expanding access to university education in Nigeria.
