The Senate of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO), during its inaugural statutory meeting on Wednesday, 4th February 2026, officially ratified the academic calendar for the 2025/2026 session. Following comprehensive reports from University Management and Faculty Deans regarding institutional readiness, the Senate has set the resumption date for Friday, 6th March 2026. This announcement marks a significant milestone for the university as it prepares to welcome both fresh and returning students to its specialized agricultural and technological programmes.
The approved schedule is designed to be intensive yet balanced, ensuring that the academic year concludes within the 2026 calendar year. Students are urged to take note of the specific dates for registration, matriculation, and examinations to ensure a hitch-free academic experience.
2025/2026 Academic Session Roadmap
The university session is structured into two semesters with clearly defined milestones for administrative and academic activities.
First Semester Schedule Resumption and registration will begin on Friday, 6th March 2026, and conclude on Tuesday, 10th March 2026. This will be followed by a comprehensive orientation for fresh students from March 11th to March 19th. Formal lectures will commence on Monday, 23rd March 2026, with the official Matriculation Ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, 22nd April 2026. Lectures will wind down on Friday, 26th June 2026, leading into the first semester examinations which are slated to run from Monday, 6th July to Friday, 17th July 2026.
Second Semester Schedule Following the Senate's consideration of the first-semester results, the second semester will begin on Monday, 3rd August 2026. Lectures will proceed for twelve weeks, ending on Friday, 23rd October 2026. The final examinations for the session will take place between Monday, 2nd November and Friday, 13th November 2026. The 2025/2026 session will officially terminate on Monday, 30th November 2026, with the succeeding 2026/2027 session expected to kick off shortly after on Monday, 14th December 2026.
Matriculation Numbers and Enrollment
Management has clarified the procedure for full student enrollment. Matriculation numbers will be generated and allocated only to prospective students who have successfully paid their acceptance fees. This allocation is the "digital key" that allows students to proceed with school fee payments and finalize their registration as full-fledged members of the FUNATO academic community. Students are encouraged to settle these fees early to avoid delays in the registration portal.
Hostel Accommodation and Security
Recognizing the importance of a safe and conducive living environment, FUNATO has adopted a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model for student housing. These hostels are strategically located within the communities surrounding the university. To protect the interests of the students, the university will actively regulate and secure these facilities, ensuring that rental rates remain reasonable.
Detailed procedures for hostel application and room allocation will be released by the Student Affairs Division in the coming days. Students are advised to wait for official university channels before committing to any off-campus housing arrangements to ensure they are within the university-regulated zones.
Ongoing Admission and Change of Institution
The university is still open to receiving applications for the current session. Prospective candidates who wish to join FUNATO but did not initially choose the institution can still visit the JAMB portal to effect a Change of Institution. It is vital that candidates verify the specific O'level and UTME requirements for their desired courses on the university website before completing the online screening.
