The Management of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has officially released the schedule of approved fees for graduands participating in the institution’s upcoming combined 6th to 12th Convocation Ceremonies. According to a notice from the Office of the Registrar dated February 6, 2026, these charges are mandatory for all participants of the event scheduled for Saturday, February 28, 2026.
The fee structure is categorized based on the level of study and includes provisions for those who may already have academic regalia or have made partial payments in the past.
Approved Fee Categories
The university has established distinct rates for postgraduate and undergraduate graduands to cover the costs of the ceremonies and graduation materials.
Postgraduate Programmes
This category includes all graduands of the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s Degrees (M.Sc, M.A, M.Ed, M.Eng, etc.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programmes.
With Academic Gown: ₦150,000
Without Academic Gown: ₦85,000
Undergraduate Programmes
All undergraduate graduands participating in the combined ceremony are required to pay a uniform fee.
Convocation Fee: ₦45,000
Important Payment and Compliance Directives
The Registrar’s office has highlighted specific conditions regarding previous payments and the requirements for clearing graduands for the ceremony.
Graduands who had previously paid the old rate of ₦15,000 are not required to pay the full new amount; instead, they must pay only the remaining balance applicable to their specific category under the newly approved rates. The university has made it clear that evidence of full payment is a mandatory requirement for administrative clearance and the eventual issuance of convocation materials, such as certificates and academic gowns.
While the fees have been set, the university management noted that the specific payment procedures, final deadlines for submission, and the timeline for the collection of academic gowns will be provided in a subsequent communication. All graduating students are strongly advised to monitor official channels and comply with these directives to ensure a hitch-free graduation experience.
