Official Notice: 2025/2026 Matriculation Ceremony at Nigeria Maritime University

The Office of the Registrar at Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, Delta State, has formally announced the Matriculation Ceremony for students admitted during the 2025/2026 academic session. This significant institutional event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 14th February 2026, at the Ceremonial Pavilion located on the Kurutie Campus. The university extends an invitation to all newly admitted students, their parents or guardians, the entire university community, and members of the general public to witness this formal induction into the maritime academic world.

The day’s proceedings are structured to begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. with the arrival of dignitaries, followed by a ceremonial parade at 10:30 a.m.. It is mandatory for all guests and attendees to be seated before the 10:30 a.m. mark to ensure the solemnity and order of the military-influenced academic environment. After a short break at 11:30 p.m., the formal academic procession will commence at 12:00 p.m., leading into the National and NMU Anthems at 12:20 p.m..

The spiritual and administrative foundation of the ceremony will be established through an opening prayer at 12:30 p.m., followed immediately by the Vice-Chancellor’s Address at 12:35 p.m.. The central event, the formal Matriculation Ceremony, is slated for 12:50 p.m., where students will take their official oaths as members of the institution. The ceremony is expected to close at 1:30 p.m. with a final rendition of the university and national anthems, followed by a closing procession in reverse order at 1:35 p.m..

Post-ceremony administrative duties are equally important; matriculated students are required to submit their signed Matriculation Oaths at 1:50 p.m.. The day will conclude with a valuable interactive session between the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the newly matriculated students, and their parents starting at 2:00 p.m..

Prior to the event, all matriculants must ensure they have collected their academic gowns from their respective Faculty Officers or the Senate Services Division.
