The University Management has concluded all necessary arrangements for the formal induction of new students through the 2025/2026 Matriculation Ceremony. This event is the official legal and academic ceremony that confirms your membership in the University community. It is mandatory for every freshman to participate, as failure to do so will be interpreted by the University as a voluntary withdrawal from your course of study.
Ceremony Schedule and Venue
The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, 6th February 2026, at the University Main Auditorium. The event will commence at 10:00 a.m. prompt. Guests are expected to be seated by 9:00 a.m., while all fully robed matriculating students must be on their assigned seats and ready for the Academic Procession by 9:30 a.m.
Guidelines for Academic Robes
Participation in the ceremony requires the wearing of official academic regalia. Students must collect their robes from their respective Faculty Officers on Thursday, 5th February 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. To be eligible for collection, each candidate must present the original copy of their Letter of Admission and Evidence of Registration showing they have been screened and cleared. All robes must be returned in good condition to the collection center no later than **2:00 p.m. on Monday, 9th February 2026. A fine of N500.00 per day will be charged for late returns, and damaged or lost robes must be paid for in full.
Approved Dress Code
The University maintains a high standard of decorum for this formal occasion. Men are advised to be properly dressed in suits under their academic gowns. Ladies should preferably wear reasonably long-sleeve English dresses under their robes. Faculty Officers will also make the Matriculation Digest available before the ceremony, and students are encouraged to read it thoroughly to understand the proceedings.
Final Documentation and Registration
The ceremony is not considered complete until the legal documentation is finalized. Immediately following the conclusion of the event, all students must proceed to their respective Faculty Offices to sign the official Matriculation Register. During this visit, students must also submit their signed Matriculation Oath. These steps are critical as they provide the permanent record of enrollment and form the basis for the issuance of official Matriculation Numbers.
