UNIPORT ANNOUNCES 36TH COMBINED CONVOCATION CEREMONY SCHEDULE AND PROGRAMME OF EVENTS

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Owunari A. Georgewill, on behalf of the Senate and Management, cordially invites the general public, graduands, and well-wishers to the institution’s 36th Combined Convocation Ceremony.

The week-long celebration, dedicated to the award of First Degrees, Higher Degrees, and the presentation of prizes, is scheduled to take place from Monday, 1st June to Saturday, 6th June, 2026.

I. PRE-CONVOCATION ACTIVITIES

• Jumat Service: Friday, 29th May 2026 University Mosque 1:00 PM.
• Convocation Service: Sunday, 31st May 2026 The Chapel of Annunciation (Catholic Chaplaincy), University Park 9:00 AM.

II. CONVOCATION WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday, 1st June 2026

• Media Briefing: Led by the Vice-Chancellor Council Chambers, Senate Building 10:00 AM.

Tuesday, 2nd June 2026

• Tree Planting Ceremony: Performed by the Best Graduating Student New Convocation Arena 10:00 AM.
• Evening Events: Red Carpet (5:00 PM) followed by Command Performance at The Crab, Delta Park (6:00 PM).

Wednesday, 3rd June 2026

• Class Day: College and Faculty Activities 12:00 PM.
• Vice-Chancellor’s Dinner: Honoring First Class Graduands and Distinction earners (Health Sciences/Pharmaceutical Sciences) VC’s Lodge, Delta Park 6:00 PM.

Thursday, 4th June 2026

• Research Fair/Exhibitions: CBN and University Library 10:00 AM.
• Fire Side Chat: Featuring Mr. Iyinoluwa Aboyeji OON (CEO of Future Africa).
• Special Lecture: "Finding Purpose: Optimizing Life after School" CBN Auditorium 3:00 PM.

III. THE GRAND FINALE

Friday, 5th June 2026

• Award Ceremony: Presentation of Certificates, First Degrees, Prizes, and Post Graduate Diplomas New Convocation Arena, University Park 10:00 AM.

Saturday, 6th June 2026

• Convocation Lecture & Higher Degrees: Conferment of Higher Degrees New Convocation Arena 10:00 AM.
• Lecture Topic: "Leadership and Infrastructure Development in Nigeria: Lessons for Future Leaders."
• Guest Lecturer: *His Excellency, Chief Dr. (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike CON, GSSRS*.

NOTICE TO GRADUANDS

Graduands are expected to be fully robed and seated at the designated venues by 9:00 AM for the Friday and Saturday ceremonies. Please check with your respective Faculty Officers for the collection of academic gowns and invitation cards.
