UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA POSTPONES 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION RESUMPTION TO OCTOBER 18
The Senate of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has approved a new resumption date for students for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The adjustment was contained in a notice signed by the University Registrar, Mal. Alkasim Musa Umar, informing students and prospective students of the change in the previously announced resumption date.
NEW RESUMPTION DATE
The University had earlier scheduled the resumption of students for the new academic session for Sunday, October 4, 2026.
However, following the approval of the University Senate, the resumption date has now been postponed by two weeks.
Students are now expected to resume for the 2026/2027 academic session on Sunday, October 18, 2026.
REASON FOR THE POSTPONEMENT
According to the University, the adjustment in the resumption date is to allow the institution to commence the release of admission offers following the recent release of the National Examinations Council (NECO) results.
The additional time is expected to enable the University to proceed with its admission processes before the commencement of activities for the new academic session.
WHAT STUDENTS AND PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS SHOULD KNOW
Students and prospective students are advised to take note of the new date and make the necessary arrangements ahead of resumption.
The revised schedule means that students who had planned to return to the University on October 4 should now plan for the new date of October 18, 2026.
Prospective students are also advised to continue monitoring the University's official communication channels for updates regarding admission offers, registration, clearance and other activities for the 2026/2027 academic session.
