UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA RELEASES POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION FORM FOR 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION
The management of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has officially commenced the sale of application forms for admission into its Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master's, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates seeking admission into the University's various postgraduate programmes across different faculties and departments.
Prospective applicants are advised to carefully read the admission requirements and complete their applications before the stipulated deadline.
General Admission Requirements
All applicants must possess:
- A minimum of five (5) O'Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB.
- Evidence of completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or a valid Certificate of Exemption or Exclusion.
Programme-Specific Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
Applicants must possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of Third Class Honours, or
- A Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least Lower Credit from a recognized institution.
Master's Degree (M.Sc., M.A., M.Ed., etc.)
Candidates must possess:
- A relevant Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower Division).
- Applicants for specialised programmes such as Financial Economics must possess a minimum CGPA of 3.00.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
Applicants must possess:
- A relevant Master's Degree with a minimum weighted average of 60% (Grade B) or a CGPA of 3.50.
- Candidates are also required to submit a research proposal of not less than 500 words.
Specialised Professional Programmes
Applicants seeking admission into professional and health-related programmes such as the Master of Public Health (MPH) must possess relevant professional qualifications such as MBBS, BDS, or other approved professional degrees, including the required clinical experience where applicable.
Special Admission Requirements
Ph.D. in Animal Science
Candidates must possess:
- Five O'Level credit passes including Mathematics, English Language, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Geography/Economics, and at least a pass in Physics.
- A minimum weighted average of 60% or CGPA of 3.50 in a Master's Degree in Animal Science from the University of Abuja or any recognized institution.
The programme runs on a full-time basis for:
- Minimum: Three Academic Sessions (Six Semesters)
- Maximum: Five Academic Sessions (Ten Semesters)
M.Sc. Animal Science
Applicants must possess:
- A minimum of Second Class Honours in Animal Science or related disciplines.
Candidates with a Third Class Degree may also be considered if they possess:
- At least five years of relevant post-qualification experience, or
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Animal Science from a recognized institution.
Programme Duration:
- Minimum: Two Academic Sessions (Four Semesters)
- Maximum: Three Academic Sessions (Six Semesters)
Postgraduate Diploma in Animal Science
Applicants must possess either:
- An HND in Animal Science with a minimum of Upper Credit, or
- A Third Class Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science.
Programme Duration:
- Minimum: One Academic Session (Two Semesters)
- Maximum: Two Academic Sessions (Four Semesters)
Nursing Programmes
Applicants seeking admission into Nursing postgraduate programmes must:
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Be duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
- Candidates with an Upper Credit in a relevant Postgraduate Diploma may also be considered for admission.

- Visit the University of Abuja Postgraduate Portal to begin the application process.
- Generate and pay the non-refundable application fee of ₦20,500 through the Remita platform.
- Complete the online application form with accurate information.
- Process the Transcript Request Form (Form A2) through the portal.
