The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has reaffirmed the credibility and integrity of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, urging candidates, parents, schools, and the general public to disregard unverified claims questioning the authenticity of the recently released results.

The examination body made this known in a statement issued by its Public Affairs Department on Thursday via its official X (formerly Twitter) platform, stressing that the 2026 WASSCE results were produced through rigorous, transparent, and quality-assured processes that have guided the Council's operations for decades.

WAEC Reaffirms Credibility of 2026 WASSCE Results

According to WAEC, the conduct of the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates strictly followed its established standard operating procedures and relevant educational policies in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education.

The Council noted that despite growing discussions on social media questioning the credibility of the examination results, there is no basis for such allegations.

It stated that every stage of the examination process, from script marking to the release of results, was carefully monitored to ensure fairness, transparency, and accuracy.

Council Reacts to Social Media Claims

WAEC explained that it understands the anxiety many candidates experience after examinations, especially those seeking admission into higher institutions.

However, the Council warned members of the public against relying on misinformation and unverified reports circulating across various social media platforms.

According to the statement, public commentary should not overshadow the robust quality assurance measures that have consistently guided WAEC's examination processes over the years.

Multi-Level Marking and Quality Assurance

The Council disclosed that every candidate's examination script passes through multiple stages before results are released.

These stages include:

  • Detailed marking by experienced examiners.
  • Moderation by subject specialists.
  • Multiple auditing and verification processes.
  • Application of standardized marking schemes to ensure fairness and consistency.

WAEC emphasized that these procedures are supervised by vetted experts to guarantee objective assessment for every candidate.

Channels Available for Result Complaints

The examination body also reminded candidates that official procedures already exist for resolving concerns regarding examination results.

Candidates or stakeholders with genuine complaints or requests for clarification were advised to channel such concerns through WAEC's offices nationwide or its verified communication platforms rather than relying on social media speculation.

The Council reiterated that established mechanisms are available for handling result-related queries professionally and transparently.

WAEC Urges Public to Ignore Misinformation

WAEC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the integrity of its examinations and maintaining public confidence in its assessment system.

The Council therefore advised candidates, parents, schools, and the general public to ignore misleading reports questioning the credibility of the 2026 WASSCE results and to obtain information only through its official communication channels.

It assured stakeholders that it remains dedicated to delivering credible, transparent, and internationally recognized examinations while safeguarding the interests of every candidate.
